The Mirabel Foundation started in 1998 with a fundraising concert and since then Mirabel's Founder and CEO Jane Rowe has been building relationships with the entertainment industry, corporations and philanthropists to secure the finances needed to run programs for the Mirabel children. 'Salvation Jane' is the story of Mirabel's Founder Jane Rowe and the evolution of the Mirabel Foundation from humble beginnings to helping over 1,700 children in Victoria and NSW. The article written by Beau Donelly details Jane's upbringing in the UK and follows her transition from counsellor at Windana to CEO of the Mirabel Foundation. For the first 18 months of Mirabel, Jane and the 12 founding members sat around her kitchen table brainstorming their vision. “We didn’t want to duplicate services or be so broad that we’d be doing a lot of everything but nothing properly,” Jane said. “Originally, we were going to help only kids who had been orphaned by parental drug use. Then we thought, ‘Let’s not wait for them to be orphaned because many of them had already been abandoned . . . there was no support for extended family in this situation who took the kids in.” Read the full 'Salvation Jane' article.
Victorian Honour Roll of Women - Media release from the Minister for Women's Affairs
Jane Rowe, Mirabel Founder and CEO, was one of twenty exceptional women who were inducted onto the Victorian Honour Roll of Women, on Tuesday 6th March 2012 as a part of International Women’s Day activities. Minister for Women’s Affairs the Hon Mary Wooldridge congratulated the new inductees at a function in Parliament House. State Member for Caulfield David Southwick praised Jane Rowe’s long time work with Mirabel, helping carers and their families. “For more than a decade the Mirabel Foundation has been there for kids who for a variety of reasons are without their parents and are now living with carers.
