Support from the Grassroots Sports Club directly enables Mirabel kids to enjoy playing community sport, a crucial part of any childhood. Research shows that only 3 out of 10 of Australia’s most disadvantaged kids get to participate in sport outside of school hours, compared to 8 out of 10 of their advantaged peers. Things like uniforms, membership fees and equipment can place sport out of the reach of many Mirabel family budgets. Which is where Grassroots Sports Club steps in.

The club’s work is fantastic and much appreciated. Please support them and us by enjoying the Racing Lunch.

GSC AFL Lunch - February 2023

We kicked off the footy season with a GSC event not to be missed. Matty Campbell greeted a packed room of over 300 guests which included AFL greats; Russell Greene, John Barnes, Clint Bizzell, Kane Pettifer and David Glascott and AFL CEO Gil McLachlan was happy to share his thoughts on the upcoming season. Before hearing from our guest speakers GSC Committee Member Daniel Clohesy spoke with Jacob a young man who has had a long association with the Mirabel Foundation having attended many of their camps and activities. Jacob's story was a remarkable example of resilience and overcoming adversity. It really highlighted the importance of Mirabel’s programs and GSC fundraising.

Carlton champion Anthony Koutoufides is undoubtably one of the best footballers of his generation. He is also one of the funniest speakers we have had at Grassroots. Kouta had the crowd laughing along to stories about attending the Brownlow, playing in premierships, being named in the Italian and Greek AFL teams of the century and winning Dancing with the Stars.

Tom Boyd is a unique footballer with a unique story to tell and he told it well. Tom spoke about being drafted number 1, contract negotiations, the weight of expectations and mental health. His role in the Western Bulldog's first premiership in 60 years is undisputed and Bulldogs fan Matty Campbell loved reliving this story with Tom.

Thank you to Anthony, Tom, Jacob and everyone for supporting The Grassroots Sports Club lunch.  www.grassrootssc.com.au
