"Swimming with the dolphins was amazing. I have never done anything so exciting before.”

Stefan’s face shone as he pulled himself back into the boat after swimming with the dolphins in Port Phillip Bay. His Pa hugged him proudly as Stefan talked about becoming a dolphin rescuer. It had been a long road for Stefan since his Mum disappeared 12 months ago. Everyone thought that she had been doing okay since she came out of drug rehabilitation but it seems that they were wrong. Stefan now lives with his Nan and Pa and has struggled with not knowing where his Mum is. His recent birthday came and went without any contact from his Mum and it made him feel sick inside. He has begun attending Mirabel’s Therapeutic Children’s Groups where he has met lots of other boys whose parents use drugs. Swimming with the dolphins has given Stefan the chance to feel special and worthwhile, something that he hasn’t felt for a very long time.
