“I don’t know where I would be if my aunt and uncle hadn’t made me part of their family.”
My name is Ryan. I moved in with my Aunty Joan and Uncle Paul a year ago when my Mum died from an overdose. My Dad lives in Perth but I’ve never really had much to do with him. Living with my Aunty Joan is pretty good. I don’t know where I would be if I wasn’t here. I have four cousins living here and I share a room with my cousin Nick. We go to the same school. I’m in Year 9 and he is in the year above me. My little sister Liza visits me here sometimes. She lives with my other Aunty. She used to annoy me when we lived together but now she doesn’t live with me I miss her a bit. I talk to her on the phone every week and we talk about Mum. Sometimes I don’t think she remembers all of the stuff that went on when we lived with Mum. We mainly talk about the good stuff and how much we miss her. My Aunty Joan is Mum’s sister; she has the same laugh as Mum. I’m happy that I have Aunty Joan and Uncle Paul and they have made me part of their family.
